Call for Workshop Proposals
IEEE QCNC 2027 plans to host workshops in conjunction with the conference. Workshops provide focused forums for researchers, practitioners, engineers, and industry participants to exchange ideas on emerging topics in quantum communications, networking, computing, systems, software, and applications.
Workshop proposals are invited on topics related to the research and application areas covered by QCNC, particularly emerging research directions, interdisciplinary themes, and topics that complement the main conference program. Workshops should provide a structured technical program that supports substantive scientific exchange through invited or contributed presentations, peer-reviewed workshop papers where applicable, panels, and/or focused discussion. Proposals designed primarily as unstructured discussion spaces are encouraged to adopt a conventional workshop format with a clear technical agenda and defined outcomes.
QCNC 2027 particularly welcomes strong continuations of successful workshops organized in previous editions of QCNC, while also encouraging new workshop proposals addressing timely and high-impact research directions.
Workshop Proposal Evaluation Criteria
Workshop proposals will be evaluated based on:
- The relevance of the proposed topic to QCNC and its potential to advance research and practice in quantum communications, networking, and computing;
- The timeliness, technical significance, and expected level of interest in the topic;
- The potential of the workshop to generate useful technical outcomes, foster collaboration, or develop an emerging research community;
- The quality, clarity, and feasibility of the proposed workshop program and review process;
- The experience and ability of the organizers to successfully conduct the workshop; and
- For recurring workshops, the record and outcomes of previous editions, including participation and continuity with the QCNC community.
Proposal Submission Guidelines
A workshop proposal should consist of a descriptive proposal of up to three (3) pages in length. Following the QCNC 2026 workshop proposal requirements, the proposal must contain the following information:
- Title of the workshop
- Workshop organizing committee: the names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of the proposed workshop organizing committee. The committee should consist of at least two persons knowledgeable in the technical issues to be addressed by the workshop.
- Technical description and timeliness: a brief technical description of the workshop, including the specific technical issues to be addressed, its focus, and justification of the timeliness of the topic.
- Review process: a brief description of the process that will be used to review and select workshop submissions.
- Resource requirements: the requested workshop format and resources, such as one-day or half-day duration, expected number of attendees and corresponding room size, whether a panel setup is required, and any other relevant logistical requirements.
- Previous workshop information, if applicable, including:
- History and frequency of the workshop;
- Previous conference co-locations;
- URLs of previous editions, if available; and
- Approximate attendance at previous editions.
SUBMISSIONS
All workshop proposals should be submitted electronically to:
qcncworkshop@gmail.com
The proposal should be submitted as a single PDF file of no more than three pages.
Acceptance will be based on an evaluation of the potential of the workshop to generate useful results, the timeliness of and expected interest in the topic, and the proposers' ability to lead a successful workshop.
Organizer Responsibilities
Organizers of accepted workshops are expected to:
- Advertise the workshop within relevant research and professional communities, including communities beyond the main QCNC audience where appropriate;
- Create and maintain the workshop website;
- Prepare and disseminate the workshop call for papers or contributions;
- Arrange for the collection and peer review of workshop submissions;
- Develop the final workshop technical program; and
- Coordinate the collection and delivery of camera-ready materials and IEEE copyright transfers in accordance with QCNC publication requirements.
